Through a series of fortunate events, I've had the distinct honor of becoming one of the co-founders of My VM Team.
Retiring from the "brick and mortar" business world in November 2006, I've spent the intervening time totally immersing myself in the world of internet marketing.
It's been a pretty wild and interesting ride, and I can assure you that I've made my share of blunders and have been scammed a few times along the way.
I quickly noticed that, for the most part, it seems that the internet marketing industry has become extremely incestuous - people selling information about how to make money selling people information about how to make money selling information...(rinse, repeat endlessly).
It became apparent to me that there was a missing element in most peoples' approach to internet marketing and online income generation - the consumer, or end user!
And in the case of so many so-called "business opportunities" there's very often no product or service at all - just the "opportunity" itself!
With an on-again off-again involvement with various MLM and network marketing businesses over the years, there was a clear pattern developing. People were failing at perfectly good business models because they weren't being taught the very things necessary to make those models work!
They weren't learning how to market their products and services to those consumers and end-users who wanted them! They were throwing away good money purchasing "leads" that simply weren't interested in what they had to offer them.
And so I started learning all I could about marketing, with the beneficial counsel from some very generous mentors along the way. And as I learned, I realized why I had not been successful, and why so many others weren't succeeding.
Almost alll of the really successful people in business have mastered the art and science of "attraction marketing," where the people interested in what you offer actually search for you and your business to provide them with what they want.
The results of my self-driven "education" are impossible for me to even try to sum up here. Let's just say that once I turned that corner, things started to change dramatically for me, and I started attracting people through a natural process that's been going on long before the internet was a gleam in Al Gore's eye!
And as I started applying what I learned, I also felt the need to "pay it forward" as my mentors had with me, by sharing my knowledge and acquired expertise with anyone who was willing to listen and learn. It is impossible for too many people to be successful.
Success is not a "zero-sum" kind of thing. If you succeed, that doesn't mean someone else has to fail. If you win, somebody else doesn't have to lose as a result - in fact, it's quite the opposite!
Then, in late 2007, destiny guided me to meet Jim Cobb and Stephanie Haile, and the result of that meeting is what you see before you now - My VM Team. With each of us having our own areas of expertise and experience - overlapping in some areas, and quite distinctively different in others - we began working together, leveraging each others efforts to the benefit of all.
And that's the underlying philosophy that drives My VM Team, and as our members understand and adopt it, developing their own "micro teams" in their individual businesses, they're achieving wonderful and amazing things!
As you navigate around our wiki, you're going to find lots of helpful tips and advice that you can apply in your own business, tested and verified by us to actually work.
Jim, Stephanie, and I - as well as the other members of My VM Team welcome you with open arms, to share the real "secrets" of succeeding online without having to pay a dear price for them.
You have our commitment - and the commitment of the rest of our wonderful and unique organization of independent business people - to help you in any way we possibly can to achieve your business and personal goals through your association with us.
But most of all, reach out and get to know the other members here. That's where we differ from so many other online training programs and team-build types of organizations. Once you understand the power that just a few focused, energetic people can have, you'll appreciate even more the power we have as a group to affect real positive change in a medium that appears to be overrun by hucksters and snake-oil salesmen.
