The Art of Following Up Part One

All on and off line businesses receives product and business inquiries from potential
customers from the worldwide web. Inquiries come to you and your business from
different mediums via e-mail, social networks, friends, family, your web site, or just
meeting someone new. You try to get the message to each hot prospect as fast as
you can. You know that you can dramatically increase the chance of making a sale
by filling each person's desire for information quickly!

Let me ask you this question. Do you want more profits in your business right?

But, after you've delivered that first bit of information to your prospect; do you follow-up
by staying in contact, and sending further information? Do you keep your face in front
of your prospects and clients on an on going base?

If you are like most on or off line businesses, this is a big challenge often over look or
not even a focus of your business. I am here to tell you today you have to change the
way you think about follow-up and really focus and put forth an effort, and take action
to over come this challenge.

When you don't follow up on that initial message with more information, you let a valuable
prospect slip through your fingers! This is a potential customer who had serious interest
in your products, but who lost your contact information, or was too occupied with other
things to make a purchase when your first message reached them. Often, a prospect will
purposely procrastinate in making a purchase or discussion, to see if you find him important
enough to follow up with later. When a prospect doesn't receive more information from you,
the prospect will take his business elsewhere. Can you see the benefits to you of follow up now?

Let me also cover current client or customers. Now both are just as important as prospect.
You ask why? Because you already have an open door to them because you have either
provided them with something they needed or they have purchased from you before. Let me
ask you this. Let say that you sold Bob advertising for his business, you know that he really
had a successful advertising campaign and saw results that pay him back for that advertising.
Now it is two years later. Have you reach out and touched Bob. I know this is an old Yellow
Pages analogy but it really hold true when it comes to follow up and keeping in touch. Now
if you have not talked to Bob in the past two years, Bob may have forgotten about you and
went somewhere else. Do you want to lose this valuable client, someone who has had success
with you and your business? Let me tell you this right now. If you have not at a minimum sent Bob
an email each month you are losing a valuable asset. Why is Bob an asset? Keep reading more I
want you to really draw down on this question thought out this series of post and come up with you
own conclusion regarding businesses asset.

Are you losing profits due to poor follow up practices? Staying connected with leads is more than
just a process - it's an art. In order to be effective, you need to implement a well designed follow up
system, and stick to it, EVERY DAY! If you don't follow up with your prospects consistently,
INDIVIDUALLY, and in a timely manner, then you might as well not spend the time on the whole
follow up process. Follow up equals growth and growth is what you are looking for, right? Consistent
follow up provides you and your business results and I know that you are looking for continual growth
of you business.

When I first started marketing and maintaining relationships with prospects and current clients, I use a
follow up method that I call the "Reach out and touch someone." I have a very large list containing the
names and e-mail addresses of people who had specifically requested information about my products
and services. These prospects and clients have already received my first email by the time they desired
more information, so I used follow up news, letters, and personal emails to each of these prospects and
current clients.

Reaching out and touching someone is a very simple process that will benefit you and your business.
Now I want you to think of other ways that you can keep your face in front of you prospects, clients and
reach out and touch someone. Watch for my next post where I will share more with you.

Please if you have questions feel free to start a thread. Remember that no question is a wrong question
in the learning process.
